Martin Michael Nugent, Jr.

Martin Michael Nugent Jr., 95 years old of Cecil, died March 5, 2024 in UPMC Mercy Hospital.

 He was born October 3, 1928 in Cecil, Son of the late Martin Michael and Amilia Mildred Zagorski Nugent , Sr. He was the last of his family.

 He was a life long member of St. Mary Church, Corpus Christi Parish, Cecil, where he was a lead usher, Holy Name Society member and in charge of the St. Vincent dePaul society for many years. His grandfather helped to build the original St. Mary Church and when it was rebuilt in 1963 Martin's name was included in the cornerstone.

Martin served in the US Navy after WWII and was a member of the Cecil American Legion. He enjoyed Pittsburgh sports, especially Pirate Baseball.

 Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Carmela Colucci Nugent of Cecil, daughters Debbie Dears of Canonsburg and Doreen (Hans) Moosa of Belleville, Il. five grandchildren Jeffrey (Shannon) Dears of Whitehall, Kimberly (Michael) Bencivenga of Clarksburg, Md., Jessica Moosa of St. Louis, Mo, Chelsea (Joseph) Michael and Zachary (Erica) Moosa both O'Fallon, Il, seven great grandchildren Adalyn, Olivia, Luca, Grayson, Jaxson, Henry, and Vivienne.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rosemary Adamski, Audrey Douglas, Virginia Kristoff, Juliann Kerna and a brother, Joseph Nugent.

 Friends will be received 2 -4 & 6 - 8 PM, Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024, followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Church, 10 St. Mary Lane, Cecil

 Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with military honors accorded by the Canonsburg VFW 191 and the US Navy.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of 7F at UPMC-Mercy for the wonderful care and compasion shown to Martin during his illness.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the St. Vincent dePaul Society at Corpus Christi Parish, 212 Station Street, Bridgeville, PA 15017
