Shirley Ruth Chauvet

Shirley Ruth Chauvet, of Cecil Township, went home to heaven on June 7, 2025. She passed peacefully with grace and dignity surrounded by family.

Shirley was born in Skellytown, TX on February 4th and enjoyed letting folks know she was from Texas. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lillian (Weaver) McGinnis and was the oldest of four sisters: the late Carol Jean DeGrave, Sandra “Sandy” McGinnis, and Patricia “Patty” McGinnis.  Shirley was the last of her immediate family.

Shirley married the love of her life, Marcel Arthur Chauvet, on June 21st after only six weeks of courting in 1957. They were married for almost 64 years at his passing on May 31, 2021.

Shirley was a lifelong member of Noblestown United Presbyterian Church, where she was a past elder. She was a past Worthy Matron, Deputy, and Chaplain of the Order of the Eastern Star Chartiers Lodge #97. Shirley was a member of the Auxiliary at Washington Health Center and held the position of President for many years. She also worked at Canon-McMillan School District in the cafeteria and Ponderosa in Bridgeville, PA.

Shirley enjoyed bird watching, spending time at “camp” as well as their winter home in Florida.   She loved fishing and spending time with family. Her favorite flower was the yellow rose of Texas, and her favorite color was blue. She could make you laugh within a few minutes of meeting her. Her smile could brighten up even the gloomiest days, casting warmth and light wherever she went. It was more than just a gesture; it was a quiet kind of magic that lifted spirits and hearts.

Shirley and Marcel were inseparable and they raised three sons, Marcel S. (Lynne) Chauvet, Michael A. (Lisa) Chauvet, and Matthew P. (Jessica) Chauvet. They were blessed to have seven grandchildren, Marcel Christopher (Amber), Ryan (Katie), Blake, Matthew Tyler (Megan), Alex (Amber) and Meghan Chauvet and the deceased Nicole Chauvet. She also has nine great-grandchildren, Marcel Vincent, Aubrie, Laila, Greyson, Barrett, Silas, Matthew James, Cooper and Dalton as well as many nieces and nephews.
