John Taylor is a native of Cecil, having grown up just down the street from the Eugene C. Coleman Funeral Home. He graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1980 and then continued his education at the Community College of Allegheny County earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. John then attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1984 and becoming a licensed Funeral Director in 1986.
In 2007, John purchased the Eugene C. Coleman Funeral Home in Cecil and renamed the business to Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services. The business still serves the community from its original location. Prior to this purchase in 2007, he worked as a Funeral Director in New York, Washington D.C., and in Arnold, Lower Burrell and Apollo, Pennsylvania; most recently having served as Supervisor for Curran-Shaffer Funeral Homes Saltsburg location.
John is a very active member of the community. He and his family attend St. Mary's Parish in Cecil where he serves as Coordinator of the St. Mary's Parish Knights of Columbus Round Table. In addition, John is the Recorder for the Holy Rosary Council at St. Mary's Parish. John is a life- time member of Arnold # 2 Volunteer Fire Company and serves currently as a fire fighter with Cecil # 3 Volunteer Fire Company.
John and his wife Kim have four children, Katlyn, Matthew, Alexander and Kyle and resides above the funeral home.
